Join our weekly workshop series to learn “How to connect with LAS professors.” Workshops will occur every Wednesday, at 11 AM and 1 PM, starting September 10th. Locations will be announced soon.
Connect with LAS professors to grow as a student and scholar. Why it matters: Professors are researchers, instructors, campus leaders, and mentors who have years of experience navigating university life. Their expertise benefits you and can support your success. Engage with them throughout your LAS journey to access their knowledge and resources.
How to connect with professors during student drop-in hours

Description:
A step-by-step guide on how to prepare for and lead productive conversations with faculty during office hours to maximize these interactions and make a strong impression.
Students will leave the workshop with:
- An understanding of the benefits of connecting with professors and the many ways they offer support.
- A list of talking points and a plan for reaching out to professors.
- Strategies for having productive conversations with professors about grades on assignments or exams.
- Access to sample emails, questions, and scripts to help start the conversation.
How to connect with professors for research

Description:
Participate in this interactive workshop to learn strategies for identifying and connecting with professors for research opportunities.
Students will leave the workshop with:
- A list of broad research areas or topics of interest for possible projects.
- The names of LAS faculty members who match research goals or can serve as a starting point.
- Sample emails and scripts for reaching out to professors and initiating conversations.
- Familiarity with potential research opportunities or programs to support projects and interests.
How to find faculty mentors

Description:
Learn how to connect with faculty members who can serve as mentors during your time in LAS.
Students will leave the workshop with:
- An awareness of the various ways faculty can mentor students.
- A list of the academic or social areas where support is desired.
- Knowledge of how to build productive mentoring relationships.
- Information to share with professors and questions to ask professors to start building and strengthening faculty partnerships.
